Delete your SmartUp account
You can delete your account yourself, from inside the app, at any time. You do not need to contact us and you do not need to give a reason.
Deleting it from the app
- Open SmartUp and go to the Profile tab.
- Tap Delete account, at the bottom of the list.
- Read what will be deleted, then confirm with your password. If you sign in with Google, type DELETE to confirm instead.
Deletion happens immediately. It cannot be undone, and signing up again with the same email address creates a completely new account with no previous history.
What is deleted
- Your name, email address and phone number
- Your password and any linked Google sign-in
- Saved payment methods
- Your notifications and notification settings
- Every signed-in session, on every device
- The device link that connects this phone to your activity
What we have to keep, and why
We cannot delete everything, and we would rather say so plainly than imply otherwise. SmartUp moves money, so we are required to retain a record of the payments we processed:
- Records of payments you made — the amount, date, status and reference
- Records required for accounting, tax and dispute resolution
Those records keep no name, email address or phone number once your account is deleted. Everything that identified you is removed, so what remains cannot be traced back to you.
If you never created an account
SmartUp can be used without signing up. If you have been using it that way, your activity is linked to your phone rather than to an account, and you can erase that link from the app the same way. Uninstalling the app also leaves it with nothing to connect a new install to.
Business accounts
Accounts attached to a business cannot be deleted from the app, because a company account may carry a credit balance, verification records and other team members. Contact us and we will handle it properly.
